Welcome! I’m Kyleigh Desforges, a Provisional Licensed Professional Counselor (PLPC) here at Clarté. I graduated from the University of Louisiana Monroe with a master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling in 2024. Prior to becoming a counselor, I spent nearly 5 years in the mental health field providing behavioral therapy to children in schools and clinic settings. That experience made me passionate about fostering my client's social, emotional, and behavioral development while also driving my desire to bridge the gap between external behavior and internal processes in therapy!
I use approaches from a combination of cognitive-behavioral, emotion focused, and somatic theories. In other words, I help my clients to create improvements in their lives and to regulate their nervous systems through self awareness, reframing thoughts, and techniques using the body. I also incorporate concepts like mindfulness, self-compassion, and emotional intelligence into my practice.
My personal style can be described as secular, feelings forward, and humorous with nods to pop culture. I see a variety of clients from ages 6+, but am especially passionate about serving adolescent, neurodivergent, LGBTQIA+, and ethical non-monogamous individuals. My goal is to create a comfortable, casual vibe where clients can feel safe while discussing otherwise taboo topics.
I am currently accepting new clients with afternoon availability on weekdays. As a PLPC, I offer sliding scale private pay rates and practice under the supervision of Michelle Thomas LPC-S.
