Blyss Dean,

Counseling Intern

Private Pay, Sliding Scale

Hello! My name is Blyss Dean. I believe establishing a solid therapeutic alliance between myself and my client is the most important part of the counseling process. I want to create a safe space for you to feel open to share your thoughts, emotions, and experiences. Everyone has different backgrounds, thoughts, values, and beliefs, so it's important to base the counseling process on your unique experience. You are the expert of your life. Through learning your story, I hope to help you process and identify problems, needs, and goals, while emphasizing your values, strengths, and creative abilities. I want to help you increase self-awareness and help you get to know each part of yourself. I believe mental, physical, and emotional health should all be part of therapy. A mindful approach can create space for you to acknowledge and accept your experiences and feelings without judgement. Increasing awareness allows you to break out of dysfunctional thought patterns, accept all parts of yourself, and restore harmony and balance to your life. Our thoughts, feelings, and behaviors are all connected. Identifying dysfunctional thoughts can help us change our behavior to healthier alternatives, increasing our commitment to healthy, constructive behavior and upholding our values and goals. It is my goal to empower each client to take control of their lives and make the changes they desire.

Currently I'm pursuing a Master of Arts Degree in Clinical Mental Health at Adams State University. Prior to pursuing this degree, I taught elementary school, tutored foreign students in English online, and homeschooled for a combined 15 years. I am also a certified yoga instructor, and have taught yoga, breathwork, and introductory meditation classes.

It's my passion to keep learning about the human brain, emotions, mindfulness, and the counseling process in general. As a counseling student, I offer sessions at a reduced rate and operate under the supervision of Robyn Sonnier, LPC-S and Emma Carline, LPC-S.
