Whitney Utter

Hey there!  Before diving in, make sure to thank yourself for taking the time to do a courageous thing, reaching out.  By landing here, you are already on your way toward the change that you are looking to make!  My name is Whitney Utter, a Mental Health Counseling graduate student at the University of Louisiana at Lafayette.  I arrive at Clarte Counseling as an Intern with a blend of life experience and academic dedication to the field of mental health.  I have finally found my purpose, supporting the mental and emotional well-being of others. Seven years serving active duty in the US Navy and an additional seven years supporting high school and college aged students through life transitions, cultivated my purpose of helping others on a deeper level.  I have experience working with couples and families, adults, and members of the LBGTQ+ community regarding a range of presenting issues such as anxiety, depression, self-harm, OCD, relationship and communication challenges and others.  My personal style of counseling varies from person to person as everyone needs something a little different.  As we learn more about each other, we will take a team-based approach, working together toward the goals that you set for yourself.  I am looking forward to the opportunity to learn more about you, the expert on your own life, through curiosity, compassion and will!
